History of Our Dojo The Kyokan Dojo of Bacolod City, located in Negros Occidental, Philippines, is a relatively very young dojo. It gained membership status with Aikido Philippines this year 2000 but has been a home practice area for about a year and a half prior to that. Later, it started accepting young children and youth practioners for basic Aikido instruction. | | | | Our Mission Kyokan Dojo of Bacolod City is under the training and guidance of two yudanshas- Sensei Stella Fuentes and Sensei Nonong Fuentes. Kyokan means "the ability to relate to others, to see clearly from their perspective. " Thus, this dojo's mission is to practice the art of Aikido to help its practioners open up and understand other people's points of view. We hope to acheive this by forging young, patient, sincere, and upright individuals through practice of Aikido. Through the principles of Aikido, the students can relate to real life situations and deal with them in a calm, competent, and peaceful manner. Most of all, we hope to "practice the art of peace in a vibrant and joyful manner." This spreading the art with a lot of goodwill and friendly camaraderie. | | | |
